Wednesday, Oct. 30th, two groups of seniors spent the morning doing community service.
One group went to the Hoyt City Park to help Kenny Bryan clean out the flower bed and prepare it for the winter.
The other group volunteered at the Firekeepers Elder Center on the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation Reservation. Students helped prepare food for about 125 people, decorated Halloween cookies, and packed to-go boxes for people who weren't able to eat there.
In the afternoon, all high school students participated in a mental health day where they were able to go to workshops like stress management, Yoga, seat belt safety, suicide awareness and more.
Teacher and chaperone for the second community service group Coach Boucher said, “It felt really good and it gave me energy to know I was giving back to my community. I liked seeing the kids work hard and I wish we had more opportunities to do things like this.”
