This holiday season, students in Mrs. Litherland’s Intro to Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) class are putting their culinary skills to work by preparing 250 servings of homemade chicken fried rice for local families adopted through RV’s Christmas initiative.

The organization Kids Feeding Kids from Pete’s Garden has graciously funded the purchase of the ingredients. In addition, FCCLA have stepped in to cover the cost of essential disposable equipment.

Looking ahead, Mrs. Litherland plans to continue this initiative in the spring semester. The goal is to keep serving the community in meaningful ways while expanding the reach and impact of the program.

This project exemplifies the core values of the FCS program—nurturing both individual growth and community connections. It’s a reminder that the holiday season is not just about receiving but also about giving, and the students in Intro to FCS are certainly making a difference this Christmas.
