On Wednesday, March 26th, senior JAG-K students spent the morning at the Kansas State Capitol in Topeka. They toured the dome and met with Representative Awerkamp as well as Senator Bowser where they talked about the students’ future goals and the funding of the JAG-K program.

After lunch, the group went to the police academy to learn more about the Topeka police department. They learned about what type of law enforcement jobs they can get after high school but before turning 21. Then they got to test out the radar detector on cars.

The seniors were able to choose where they went in the afternoon. Mrs. Lein, JAG-K instructor, said they chose the police department because 2 out of the 4 students on the trip want to become police officers.
